ADOPTED DOGS 2021

June

"June" (responds to "Luna") is a nine year old terrier mix who was returned to DunRoamin' after some big life changes made it clear that the best option for everyone, including June, was to find her a home that she would be more compatible in. June was born about September 15, 2014 and originally came from an area near Hartland where she had been a pet but was no longer wanted. She was relatively healthy, but very thin and very pregnant. She gave birth to eight beautiful puppies and was adopted in August 2015, where she lived until December 16, 2023 when she returned to DunRoamin'. Upon her return, she tested positive for Lyme Disease and was being treated under the care of her vet until she was recently cleared for adoption. June will continue to need follow-up appointments with a vet to monitor for joint inflammation and any developing arthritis from Lyme Disease. She is now on a monthly injection to help with any discomfort related to her mobility and she has been a happy, active girl!

June loves people, but can take some time to warm up to men. She warmed up to her foster dad within a couple of weeks and he's now one of her favorite people. She is a cuddly, affectionate dog who knows a few tricks and is very food motivated. June is smart and eager to please, but exhibits some resource guarding with food and people that can cause her to react to other dogs around her. Because of this, June would do best in a home with respectful children over 12 years of age and as an only dog (or with a laid-back, larger dog based on her previous home structure). A family with dog experience that is comfortable reading body language would be ideal, as June gives clear cues in her body language when she is getting uncomfortable and approaching her tolerance threshold. She lives with cats now and will chase them if they run but stops quickly with brief verbal correction and does well with confident kitties. June loves going on car rides and rolling around in the snow. She will need an active home able to give her the exercise she needs. She LOVES rubber chuck-it or kong balls and knows how to 'drop-it'!

June prefers to be with people and gets anxious when left alone. She is not destructive, but will bark at outside noises and wait by the door for you to come home. Once you're home, she is your shadow! June is not comfortable with being groomed or bathed, so her new owners will need to work with a gentle groomer or get comfortable with trimming her themselves.

On March 3, 2024, June met an exceptionally nice couple from Fredericton who fell in love with her right away! June will experience the very best with them and have a quiet and well-cared for life. She will have the love of a retired couple who has no other pets, so June will be the sole recipient of unending love and kindness. Thank you so much for changing her life.

Both June and DunRoamin' would especially like to thank her foster family who has loved and cared for her for the past two and half months while she received medical care and interacted in a home with other dogs, cats and children, allowing her foster parents to determine exactly what circumstances would be best for June in a home/family situation. We are all so grateful that, through their time, love, hard work and patience, June has found the perfect home. Thank you - from all of us.
